Quick question on shrimp ID.

You don't need java moss for the babies, unless you really like the look of moss. The adults do not chase down and eat their young.

I know that the shrimp won't eat their young, but I have some fish in the tank too. A few platys and I know its not the best to have fish with the shrimp so I'm planning on moving the fish to another tank.

I see. Yes, optimally you don't want the fish in there. But, suboptimally, tons of moss would definitely help hide shrimp young from fish and slowly build up your population.
