Hydra help

Post by Brown Water »

Have a 15 gal red cherry shrimp tank with about 110 shrimp. Feed a couple flakes every other day. I have a mess load of java moss and a small java fern. Last night I noticed maybe 20 or so hydra stuck to the glass. What can use to get rid of it? I'm not interested in scraping and siphoning them, I just want some way to kill em and not transfer them to any other tanks especially any of my breeding/fry tanks. I have read on online that that no planaria stuff will do the job, but I am having a hard time locating any in the USA at any lfs.

I would just wait a few weeks. The hydra usually disappear by themselves after a while. That's been my experience. Any chemical you use that is meant to kill any type of invertebrate can potentially kill shrimp, too; or at least harm them.
