Feeding frenzy!

Post by KenCotigirl »

I dropped a small shrimp pellet in my ten gallon tank and the fun began. I had to crop the picture to fit the 256k requirement so a lot of shrimp are not in picture. However I think you can get a feel for the action.

My own shrimp react more like a rugby game when I fed them Thursday, perhaps because I use pellet food. One pellet goes in, one shrimp grabs it and swims around, nibbling at it while the others try to catch up and grab the pellet for themselves.

Although your own frenzy could be said to be a nice rugby scrum.

Thanks for the pic! :) That's just about what my tanks look like every two weeks or so, except that in most tanks there are easily 500-1000+ shrimp of all sizes in that pile and the general vicinity. As many of you already know here, it's always a good sign if the shrimp display this kind of behavior. If they don't touch the food at all, either there is enough food already growing in the tank or the tank has not settled yet.
