and not directly related to shrimp, but here goes...

i'm in socal on a biz trip right now, and i have a late flight on thurs, so i may have some time to hit up an lfs down here. hypothetically, if i were to buy a few shrimp or fish (perhaps species that i haven't been able to find in norcal), will it pass inspection at security checkpts or will they confiscate? shrimp and other livestock are not listed as dangerous or prohibited items. i've heard of folks bringing shrimp onto flights from hk to the us, passing customs. i imagine domestic flights shouldn't pose a problem, but there's always that uncertainty. anyone have exp with this?

thx.

I've heard a shopkeeper say that a guy bought 100 tetra from her shop here Hong Kong and took them to Germany. She made the plastic bag much more oxygen than usual. She said the guy gave her a call that all tetra arrived in Germany safety. That's all I know.

I have read that some security guards will make you throw away fish, even though the airline people tell them it is ok.

The fish owner managed to go to the bathroom, pretend she dumped out the water, which she really just transferred to a container and put in her purse, and got through a different check point. She said her fish, a betta, was not harmed by the X-ray machine and is still doing fine.

so anyone think it would be worth a shot? to buy and try and get them on the plane? the flight is 1hr 30mins max, so i don't think there will be any adverse effects. just debating....

haha! i don't think it'll matter. they seem to be 24/7 algae eaters. i don't think they actually sleep or rest. all times of day and nite, i see them munching away at sumn.

it doesn't look like i'll have the time to go to an lfs neway. bummer for me.
