I've observed the following behaviour. Can anyone tell me why?

(1) They sometimes gather together around the filter.
(2) Sometimes a shrimp mounts on the back of another shrimp.
(3) Sometimes they're face to face and behave as if they're fighting. They confront each other for a while and then go away.

Thank you !

Hi beckypyyeung,
(1) They sometimes gather together around the filter.
I would guess that there are bit's of food particles that are in the pores of the sponge.
(2) Sometimes a shrimp mounts on the back of another shrimp.
Ummm...... In most animals that means mating. AKA making babies :-D
3) Sometimes they're face to face and behave as if they're fighting. They confront each other for a while and then go away.
No Clue.

Hope it helps a bit,

they may face eachother and look as if they are fighting to establish a pecking order. i had hermit crabs that did this, two would face of and one would usual ripe an arm off of the other. maybe shrimp fight for dominace as well.

That means shrimps are sexual.
