Hi there! I'm cycling a new tank for my first Opae'ula. It's a four gallon glass cube containing lava rock, fake corals from Ocean Aquaria, Mustafa's macroalgae, and a few of those green algae rocks. (I know the green rocks were a silly purchase, but they look so nice and I hoped give the little shrimp plenty of snacks.) I don't have the Opae'ula yet. Anyway, I went away for the weekend, leaving my supposedly uninhabited tank unlit. I've returned home to see a cute little blue shell crawled up onto one of my green rocks!
I haven't figured out how to take a small enough photo to post with my iPad yet; I don't know how to change the MB size...
The shell is basically a cornucopia the size of a pine nut. As I say, it's light blue and very beautiful. I'm guessing it rode in on the algae rocks... It's very welcome, but I'm curious about species, etc, and want to make sure it will thrive long-term with my Opae'ula. I've asked this question of the algae rock vendor too, but can't imagine if he'll answer.
Thanks for anyone's time and opinions!
Laura

One more thought-- it kind of looks like a small, flat blue mystery snail. Can they live in brackish water?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Even with a picture i may not be able to help. Nice to have you join us. From the post title I figured it was spam. Glad it was not. Anxious to see pictures.
