No it's not dying, its just orange not red.

CRS is possible to be orange in color. It is either low grade, it is in bad water condition or stressed.

I think "rclover" means "Rec Cherry Shrimp" although he writes "CRS."

And once again for eveyone:

CRS: Crystal Red Shrimp

RCS: Red Cherry Shrimp

It's really not that hard...LOL

PS: Having said that...Red Cherries can be different shades and intensities of red, but I have never seen a truly orange one.

That's not a Crystal Red Shrimp. Those shrimp are imported as "Zebra Shrimp" to the US (very rarely). I happen to have a breeding group in one of my tanks. They belong to the Caridina serrata species group and thus are closely related (if not a regional variation) of the Bee Shrimp and Crystal Red Shrimp.

Where did you get them? I hope they did not sell this shrimp as a Crystal Red Shrimp to you. Either way...these shrimp are very rare so try to breed them if you have a group.

It has eggs, but I don't know what to expect, it was not mislabeled at all the retailer was very honest in saying that he doesn't know whta the shrimp is, I don't too.

Looks like the second link but not as red, it's orange.

It's none of those. I already said what it is. It's a shrimp belonging to the Caridina serrata group from southern China. There is no doubt about that.

Ed's links show an Indian shrimp (tentatively assigned to the C. babaulti species group) and C. serratirostris.

what will my shrimp mate with? crystal red? bumble bee? because I don't want hybrids.

they will very likely hybridize with Crystal Reds and Bee Shrimp, possibly even Tiger Shrimp and Bumblebee shrimp. Just go through the shrimp varieties page here and look for species that have "belongs to the caridina serrata group" in their description. Those are all very closely related species.

I would just keep these shrimp by themselves without other shrimp.
