Rockets arrived a few hours ago. Hell - of 100 only about 20 are alive
Anyway - 2 females are carrying eggs! Whoopee!

Can you see those tiny black eyes just about to pop out of the eggs?
That's not all - it suddenly turned out the bags are full od babies! About a hundred babies!
To everyone - we introduce our baby Rockets

Great Jackie!
The little guys in the eggs look like they are going to hatch anytime! Congrats on the hatchlings in the bag...those are the ones that are most likely to survive and produce progeny. As you can see it's very important to establish breeding populations of all of these shrimp in captivity considering the death rate of a lot of the shrimp. 20% survival rate is terrible, but it's not unusual for imported shrimp and especially this species. If only 20 animals out of a shipment of 100 dogs/horses/cows etc. would survive, then there would be a huge outcry and protests. With shrimp, people don't seem to care that much.
This proves what I was suspecting about these shrimp...that they produce fully developed young in complete freshwater.
To everyone:
The exporter from India decided to give this shrimp the name "rocket shrimp." Other exporters might decide to name it differently, so it's not set in stone. Also, this shrimp has not been scientifically identified yet (although it might well have been scientifically described already).
I am going to attempt the breeding of this shrimp on my side here too as soon as I get new breeding stock (the last shipment arrived all dead or semi-dead and died later

). It should arrive any day now.
Take care,
Mustafa

I wish I knew, but they are under 1 milimeter long, so I presume they hatched maybe a few houres before they were let out of the bags.

Mustafa, please check the water conditions in the bags when your Rockets arrive. There is no sense in measuring the pH and KH, but the water in the bags in our case was what we call "liquid water" - over 30 GH

You mean "liquid concrete?"

That's what happens when you write in a hurry - I meant "liquid rock"

Hi Jackie,
How are your baby rockets getting on?

My baby cherries are one week old now. The size is more or less the same as they were a week ago, and they're still not 'red'. Anyway, it's pleasurable to see them alive.

Mine started turning red when they were about 8 mm long, so your babies still have some time

Would you mind sharing who the wholesaler is? oh wait....you're in Poland and I'm in LA so that won't help.
