RCS - Males dead females thriving?

2 weeks ago, I purchased 5 red cherry shrimp - 2 males 3 females. A week in, both males were dead but all 3 females were perfectly fine. They're in a planted 25L tank at 25℃ with 3 platys. Anyone have any ideas, because I'm at a loss?

Could the platys have eaten the shrimp? It seems like the male/female divide could be just plain luck.

Edit: Unless you found the shrimps' bodies, whoops, forgot about that. The tank sounds like it could be getting a bit crowded though - how are the ammonia/nitrite/nitrate levels?

Yes, found both the shrimp bodies. All levels are fine now, although when I first got the shrimp, the ammonia levels had only just come done from toxic. Do you think that could have affected them?

I doubt the platies killed them. Did you get the shrimp from a store?
