Hi Folks,

Just wanted to share the picture of my ovigerous Peruvian Glass Shrimp female.

http://www.petshrimp.com/files/peruglassshrimp.jpg

No idea yet what their scientific name is....it's definitely a Palaemonid shrimp and could be related to our P. paludosus but could also be a very small Macrobrachium (The shrimp are about 1.25 inches right now). We'll see. She's my only female at this point, so I am hoping that I can establish a little breeding colony with her help. :) As you can see the eggs are *huge* and she is carrying only about 8-10 eggs.

These guys are cute little shrimp and totally harmless towards any other tank inhabitants...including other shrimps' hatchlings.

@amber

Thanks, Marge, yes she is. :)

@Florian

I hope that I have success breeding them, too. Once the eggs hatch it should be no problem, but we'll see what happens.

Oh...some interpretation for everyone else:

AGW Liste = German Mailing List for Invertebrate discussion (of which I am also a member)

Exuvie (singular, German) = Exuviae (plural, English) = shed skin of shrimps, crabs, crays, insects etc. See here for pronunciation and further definition:

Take care,

Do you plant to separate the babies or keep them in the same tank Mustafa? :smt102
