Tap water in sand

Post by Ihaveshrimp »

Hello,

I've had a supershrimp tank for around a year now and have 2-3 berried females in it. I'm getting a second 20 gallon tank wich I made the mistake of filling with tap water (treated with dechlorinator). The tap water in my area is really high in ph so I don't want to use it. I've drained out the tank but there are still small puddles of water in places and the sand is soaked. Will the tap water in the sand hurt the shrimp? I'm going to refill the tank with some bottled spring water and raise the ph up to 7.6ish with crushed coral.

The small amount of tap water should have no effect. The ocean salt you add will set the water parameters.

Thanks! Doesn't instant ocean make the ph go to 8.0ish?
