Macrobrachium with celestial danio

Post by Stalker »

Hello.

In one tank I have a lot of Macrobrachium (probably assamens) with Macropodus, Tanichthys and Tateurndina fishes.

In another tank I have Celestichthys erithromicron, the cousin of Celestial Pearl Danio living in the Inlé Lake.

I want to make this tank a Inlé biotop... And Macrobrachium from hendersonii complex live in there and I want to introduce them, but I wonder if they will eat my dear Erythromicron.

Also a person want to buy me some Macrobrachium for his tank with CPD but I dont want to sell him killers. Everywhere i read that this shrimps *can* eat small fishes, but *wont* if they are feed correctly.

What do you think?

In my experience you're going to have fish disappear over time unless you have a huge and tall tank. You haven't lost any Tanichthys?

Not a single one. Not even kuhlis loaches. And all this fishes and shrimps are (probably) feed only once a week.

Do you have a picture of your Macrobrachium? Different species have very different aggression levels. My "red claws" (there are several species) hunt down fish if they can.

sorry Mustafa i dont come here often. Here is an independent experiment. I offered a dozen of my Macros to a friend and they where put with a mis of vella molly, wild endlers and koi xypho. We where afraid because poecilid sleep tight on the ground and are easy target for crayfish and ghost shrimps. Not a single fish was eaten in a month.

Hey Stalker. In the chance that you still have any of these Macrobrachium, would you be willing to sell? From my experience with red claw macros, they make a very cool community and once settled in, they start to breed pretty rapidly. I'd like to get some again, if possible. Hope all your tanks are doing well. :)

He's in Europe so he won't be selling any of those to the US.

Stalker, those are just regular redclaw macros. I'm thinking the fact that your tank seems to be chock full of plants is the reason why your fish are alive. I.e. lots of hiding places!
