I just saw baby cherry reds yesterday. Does anyone know if there's any special care requirements? Do I need to feed them anything, or let them eat algae in the tank? Also do I need to separate them? Thank you for any info you can give me. WOOHOO!

Congratuations !

You may refer to my "Death/ Survival Rate of Newborn Shrimp posted recently. Hope you'll find a lot of joy in taking care of your baby cherries.

if there is a sufficient source of algae in your tank and they have plenty of hiding spaces (java moss and riccia work best to my understanding) and the tank is well established, the cherries should do fine, even in a cohabitat tank with both fish and shrimp. fish will eat the babies if they catch a glimpse tho, so a shrimp only tank is advisable. as becky has observed, you will have losses, though, so don't expect miracles. as long as some make it to adulthood, it should be a great experience. congrats on the new babies!

I haven't lost any! I am very surprised. I put a small mesh net over my filter intake so I didn't suck any through it. They are all about half the size of my adults, and only a couple months old. They eat algae all day long. Thank you for all your responses.

Hi Guppylovr,
You're welcome

I believe that's what Mustafa intended to achieve when he set up this website.
Wow, glad to hear that all of them survive.
