Supershrimp... stromatolits?

Post by Stalker »

Hello, my question go to Mustafa but I think everyone will be interested by the answer.

Il you look at anchialine pool footages, you can see bright orange structures. Those apear to be cyanobacteria growing (Schizothrix calcicola), forming stromatolits with tilme. Did someone tried to culture them in a tank?

Not as far as I know. I would imagine they would need to be cultured like stony corals...i.e. possible supplementation with calcium, carbonate etc. It would be interesting to see if they can survive without supplementation though. Maybe I'll get some. :)
