What method is quick and allows the shrimp to get used to your tank when you first buy them?

Are you wondering about how to add the shrimps into the tank or just what to do for the shrimps first few days AFTER adding them to the tank?

Adding them from the bag.

Usually I just put the bag in the tank so the temp of the water in the tank and the bag can slowly match up with each other. That will take about 30 mins. Of course that depands on the temp. difference of the two.

Then I will add a little bit of the tank water into the bag. I would do that in increments of 1/5 ( 1/5 of the amount of water in the bag )at a time with 10 mins in between.

After that just net the shrimp out of the bag and you're done. Try to avoid getting the water from the bag into your tank to avoid conteminants or other bugs from getting into your tank.

Hope that helps.

lights on or off?

Try to do that with the light off. This will give the shrimp a chance to calm down and find a place to hide.

Also, if there are fishes in the tank then it's a must to do it with the lights off. Most fish will chase after things that get dropped into the tanks thinking that it might be food.

Good luck! :-)
