Green dwarf and pearl shrimp together?

Hello all,

This is my first post to this forum. I'm a relative newbie to shrimp, but have kept, bred and imported tropical fish for a long time.

If all goes well, I should be acquiring several pearl shrimp and green dwarf shrimp this Sunday. I was wondering if it would be OK to keep these together in the same tank? I can put a tank divider in if necessary, but would prefer not to.

Any advice?

You can keep them together for now. The pearl shrimp won't bother the adults. But if you ever manage to breed your green shrimp, the pearl shrimp will try to catch the young.

In my case (I kept pearl shrimp with Cherries) "trying" was the most they could do. These shrimp are SO anemic :D

Hi Jackie,

They catch them when you're not looking. :-D I have never observed them catch any young but a bunch of N. denticulata sinensis (wild type) hatchlings got decimated by them. I only saw one the other day. Unless the young are dropping dead (which is entirely possible) the Pearl Shrimp are eating them.
