Update to “Help a newbie? Much appreciated.....”

Post by Shrimpy97 »

Hi,

My shrimp and snails have been doing fine sitting in a container with the water they both came in while Ive been letting my jar cycle in a window to try and grow algae. No signs of anything which make me think it’s too cold..

I went and bought a small decoration for the shrimp to hide. I put a small Anubias Congensis as I heard they are hardy and good for brackish.. Have a feeling if it actually survives, it’s going to get big but my thought was maybe I could clip it back? Regretting I didn’t put them in a gallon +....I can remove it if anyone thinks it’s gonna cause ammonia problems...

Iremoved the Marimo ball and swapped out the aquarium gravel for black sand.. I took a leap of faith and added the shrimp and brackish snails... Fingers crossed...

Tell me whatcha think folks :-)

Here are some pictures.. There’s a before picture

Keep us posted on the live plants...but nothing survived in mine, and the mess it made probably delayed reproduction by a year. The shrimp just don't reproduce when there is too much nutrients.

Definitely take the Anubias ouf of there. It will die for sure and mess up everything, even if it hangs in there for a while. Read this:
