Hi All -
I just joined the Opae Ula community after owning a small ecosphere for awhile, seeing them die in a few years - and then researching what they were out of curiosity. Thought they were super cool, and felt bad, after I did my reading - that I initially went into things uneducated. Decided to do things right - cycled a nice new 1.5 gallon tank, and most recently (couple days ago) received my shrimp and some accessories (macroalgae and a couple supershrimp mossballs) and started the adventure.
Was looking at the tank today, and think I might have been shipped a berried female with one egg?! Is this what I am looking at in attached picture? It does hang down as a ball from the shrimp. If so, that'd be a super cool way to start things! Thanks All . . .

That's what it looks like to me. Perhaps the move was too traumatic and caused her to lose the rest, but she managed to hang on to 1. Congrats!

Cool. That's great news. Thank you. Here's a much better pic . . .
fingers crossed the move into the new tank wasn't too stressful - and she doesn't loses this one also

Very cool. Hopefully that egg stays
Re: Shipped a Berried Shrimp?
I had that once. I received a shrimp with two eggs attached. But she end up dropping all of them( I also changed my tank once) and the eggs that dropped didn't manage to hatch after I picked them to a separate container.
If I were you, I will let her do her own thing with zero disturbance. After a few weeks, you might end up having a young shrimp. But it's also possible to be a dead egg that will detach when next time she molt.

Yeah, that shrimp got caught with a full "belly" of eggs, but the eggs usually get dropped in the process of catching them in a net. Sometimes they hold on to one or a few.
