Macro algae

Do the Opaes eat the macro algae or just pick off the biofilm on it? Mine are always picking at it but it is growing some.

Also, I think my shrimp are chameleons. I look at them one time and they are all various shades of red (except for one who is always pure white). The next time I look, they are all pale with almost no red and the ones that were the deepest red are now brown. I have a couple with stripes too.

They may eat pieces that die and start to decay, but healthy macroalgae seems to be too tough for their mouthparts.
