Spider web-like algae in tank?

Post by VegasShrimps »

Hello!

I recently got a 5G tank to upgrade my 1G and I started cycling it a week ago. I grabbed some shells/rocks from my 1G to place in the new tank to help the cycling along.

I checked on the progress today and noticed webs? Should they be taken out or are they okay to leave in? Are they helping, hurting? There are no “webs” in the previous tank.

Google made me go down a rabbit hole and I couldn’t find any pictures that looked like what I had. Also most other forums say to get rid of it, but as we know, if it’s algae then it’s for the most part good?

I have attached pics. If you see anything green, it was taken from the 1G (minus the webs lol)

Thank you for the help!

I've had these in new builds. They are fine, just ignore them and they will disappear by themselves over the course of several days. If you have snails the snails will help.
