New Tank & Algae After 7 Days

New Tank & Algae After 7 Days
So I started a new 10 gallon tank. I took the water from an established tank to jump start the cycle & algae. Added a sponge filter to keep the water circulated. Algae appeared after 7 days. Tank is now 14 days old.

Re: New Tank & Algae After 7 Days
Very cool !!! What kind of lighting does the tank have?? I am at 8 months now with my 5.5 gallon tank and still NO visible algae growth. I have been feeding more frequently, about once a week, for last couple of months. Thanks.
Re: New Tank & Algae After 7 Days
It's just an 18" LED light. The lumen output is 468 I think.
Re: New Tank & Algae After 7 Days
Here's an update of where this tank is now. 5 weeks old. I've decided to keep the sponge filter in there for now. I've added some macro algae. Left wall is almost completely green & the rocks are starting to get covered in algae as well. I'm planning to add more rocks on the left side.

Thanks. How long have you had it? The description says to leave the lights on 24/7 to prevent the plant from going sexual and disintegrating. Of course if it does that, the Opae Ula will just eat it up.

Re: New Tank & Algae After 7 Days
I leave my lights on for 7hrs on a timer. I've had the caulerpa for 4 months or so. I have seen some melting of the leaves where they turn transparent but growth has been good. It does seem to take a good footing in the sand. It is a full salt salinity algae but I have heard others convert it. I'll posts some other pics of it in my other tanks.
Re: New Tank & Algae After 7 Days
Here's the pics from of of the tanks. You can see some of the leaves are melting & turning clear.
Re: New Tank & Algae After 7 Days
Thanks for the pics. I am surprised by the amount of algae you have. Whenever My tanks had that much it never lasted long because the shrimp devoured it quickly.
Re: New Tank & Algae After 7 Days
My shrimp are constantly grazing but the algae never goes away. It's a pretty think one not just a surface algae. Just too much in all of my tanks. I don't always clear the front glass so it builds up on there.

I am curious about your tanks nutrient loads to always have such algae coverage. Impressive.

It looks great after just 60 days. I assume you use either distilled or ro water with the marine salt of your choice and top off with either.
I'm just trying to figure out what is going on with your tanks to have such lush and constant growth.
Thanks

I do use RO but one time I accidentally use hap tap water. No issues and that tank is actually flourishing. I would never suggest tap.
