My mossball is floating

Post by dglidden »

See: title.

I know that occasionally marimo can develop bubbles inside, plus this guy is pretty tiny, but he started floating as soon as I put him in the tank which was about a week and a half ago. I'm hesitant to try to squish it to release any bubbles, but I kinda want it on the substrate... Keep waiting? Give it a little squish? Do something else?

You can also lodge it between two small rocks until it gets bigger and gains more weight to stay down.

He finally got over his youthful exuberance "floating" phase and has settled down into a nice mature "sitting on the bottom" phase after about two weeks. Hopefully if anyone else has floating mossballs, they can find this thread and find some solutions. (I also saw in another thread that it's possible he's already shed a bunch of little mossball bits as I rolled him around the tank to get into the spot I wanted, and I may see new ones popping up!)
