Very cool! Where did you manage to get those from?
Re: New addition - Spike Tail Malaysian Trumpet snails
I got them on the 'Bay.
Re: New addition - Spike Tail Malaysian Trumpet snails
Just a heads up. These snails need a lot of calcium in the water in order to retain theirs shells. Lack of calcium in water will cause their shells to wear away.
Re: New addition - Spike Tail Malaysian Trumpet snails
Thanks! Tank is well loaded with shells and other forms of calcium. I keep it that way because the shrimp need calcium for their exoskeletons. Thanks again.
Re: New addition - Spike Tail Malaysian Trumpet snails
Shells won't help. Maybe keep your ph up. What other forms of calcium do you have?
Re: New addition - Spike Tail Malaysian Trumpet snails
I periodically place chips of "wonder Shell" in my 2 gallon "eco-jar". This adds calcium carbonate and other needed minerals. I know it works because I have zebra and tiger nerite snails in the jar. When received, these snails had shell erosion. Their shells are completely healed now and look perfect. Quick shot of my jar attached (most of the shrimp are in hiding right now, but there are lots of them).

Wonder shells work great. That's perfect for the snails.
