Do red racer nerites (Vittina waigiensis) eat the brackish "moss" balls? Do they eat Mustafa's chaeto?
They supposedly eat *some* blue-green algae. I am seriously thinking of getting one/some in order to deal with a BGA outbreak. Don't really want to try a blackout first. The rocks on which this outbreak appeared had already been in blackout for a long time before I put them in the opaeula tank (and had never had visible BGA on them! Argh!) plus I don't want to slow down the Chaeto which is hopefully competing with it.
I know that nerites can eat the opae ula out of house and home and produce waste so fast that the bacterial community may not be able to keep up, at least at first. I'm hoping to reduce that problem by sending it/them to work in the opae ula tank as their day job and putting them in a bigger tank at night. Anyone have more suggestions about how to manage them intelligently?
