I think the problem is connected with poor conditions in the tank. IMO any shrimp will ecape from a tank if it doesn't feel good in it. I know quite a few aquariums with no cover (not even a piece of glass), filled with shrimps of several kind (also the "Cherry Red") and they don't climb out of them.

On the other hand I've heard of shrimps escaping from the tank - as I say, probably because they didn't feel comfortable.
