What are the odds of baby CRS surviving in a 10 gallon planted with java, with 1 guppy, 2 cherry barbs, and some glow light tetras?

Well I'm glad to prove you wrong. I have counted about 8 youngsters. Probably there is more, since they like to hide. They seem to be big enough so the fish don't bother them.

why ask a question, if you are not really seeking an answer? if you have successes to share, please do them, but don't ask a redundant question. no one here has anything to prove, just experiences to share. please take your attitude elsewhere.

I'm glad they've survived for you :D . But, if you wanted a greater population of crytals, then you should remove any fish out of that tank. Also, your not there to monitor the tank 24/7, so you don't see what could be happening to the baby crystals. Just my 2 cents. Hopes this helps.

Depends on how much java moss, really. With large masses of it, you should expect to see a decent amount of survival if water conditions are suitable. Surely some would become prey though, or at least be stressed or damaged by the occasional fish encounter.

oops.... my bad. I didn't look at time/date stamp... Keder's response seemed facetious, so I responded in kind. My apologies to Keder and all.

Well, I can confirm my 5 neon tetras in my heavily planted 10 gallon got to 2/3 to 3/4 of my first batch of crystal red babies from three females. I actually caught one eating a baby crystal red shrimp. Sure, some survived(about a dozen), but more are lost. My tank is now shrimp only. On the other hand, the cherry red population was exploding regardless whether there were fish or not.

Fugly...I don't think Keder meant his statement in a bad way. If you notice, he/she posted the question on May 21st, so a lot of time has passed for his babies to hatch and grow up. He/she just came back (June 8th) to give an update on the situation. That's all...no bad feelings. :)
