Will Shrimp Survive?

Well I'm new here and recently purchased a batch of shrimp from Mustafa that are set to arrive this thursday/friday after doing some research for the past 2 months or so. I set up a 10 gallon with a an old fluval 303 I had lying around that is heavily planted with stems in the corner opposite the spray bar. This tank is set up at my mother's house and while I was out of town for the weekend she noticed that the intake tube was getting all mucked up from algea. She took it upon herself to fix this and mistakenly rinsed my whole canister and filtering bits out with cold tap water then let them dry completley before asking a friend of mine that works at an LFS to reassemble it. Needless to say he had an 'oh crap' moment because he knew about my shrimp coming in.
Now the tank has started to recycle I believe, not so sure since the stem plants tend to soak up the nitrates and such. Would it be ok to add the shrimp to this tank or should I add the shrimp to this tank which is meant for jsut them or add them to the other current 20 gallon I have set up. I am a but worried about adding them to the 20 gallon even though it is moderatly/heavily planted. It is a community tank housing one male betta, 6 platties, 3 pygme cories, 5 ottos, 2 kuhli loaches, 13 white clouds and roughly 17 zebra danios. I know this seems liek alot but with the plants and heavy filtration i still register 0 on all tests and perform weekly water changes. Would any of these fish pose dangers to shrimp the size that Mustafa ships out or would it be ok to place them in the 20 gallon then collect them and put them into the 10 gallon later?

Any input would be apprecited, I am looking forward to keeping shrimp and hope I don't kill them off right away! Thank you.

I didnt completly understand your predicament (i'm kinda slow) but i wouldn't keep any shrimp with those fishes in the 20g.

My 10 Gallon is recycleing because it got cleaned out and dried but I have a shipment of shrimp arriving tomorrow and dont want them all to be killed either by being eaten or high ammonia levels.

Try getting some filter media from the 20g and put it into 10g, you have instantly cycled 10g.

Go buy a bunch of test kits and measure your ammonia and nitrite levels. Plus, you need a sponge over your Fluval filter intake so that some of the shrimp (and later the babies they will have) won't get sucked away. To help the 10 gallon cycle take some "filter muck" from your 20 gallon and put it into the filter of the 10 gallon.

Other than that...good luck! At least the betta might consider the shrimp a yummy addition to his diet.

Well I'm going to to change filter cartridges in a bit and will jsut throw the old one in my 10 for now. I do have tests kits and have been testing and hopefully all will go well.

I figured out for now that by using and old acrylic overflow that i can place the shrimp in my large cycled tank yet keep them out of harms way, much like a breeders net. Hopefully this works as planned.
