hi.
have had 3 red cherries for soem time now and all have been great with them.
been active cleaning of hugh amounts of algaes i have had but now 2 of them are hiding since thursday.

i moved a group of plants from the backside to the left side of the aquarium and put in a Microsorum pteropus "Windeløv" at the backside.

i also put in 2 Xiphophorus maculatus.
these 2 fishes can be a bit intrusive but doesnt hunt the shrimps or try to bite them but sometimes they look for food near a shrimp.

1 shrimp came out at saturday and is out more and more now and has been visible all day today (monday)

when i looked around i found one shrimp in the Microsorum pteropus "Windeløv" and that one was coloured very much in red and just sat on a leaf.
that shrimp has now crawled back into hiding so i cannot se it anymore.

2 of the shrimp has been very red since i got them and the third one a male is red too but not nearly as much as other 2.

1 of the shrimps that is hiding now had alot of eggs when i saw her closely last week.

they have "molted" or what its called several times since i got them and i got ALOT of vegetation.

any ideas why 2 of them are hiding ?

could it be the shell i put in 2 weeks ago ?

BTW, did someone tell you shrimp love to hide alot, especially when it's in a planted aquarium. Now that I have mentioned this. You must find Waldo [cherries]. LOL Come on now laugh.
I hope you have alot of hidng spaces, because those baby cherries don't have a chance against fish. Why doesn't everyone read : IF YOU WANT SHRIMPS TO THRIVE, MAKE IT AN ALL SHRIMP TANK. If you want a whole tankload, this will help. But if you only want to add them as decorating pieces in the aquascape, then that's all G. I'm not saying all will perish, but the odds of having some make it to adult hood is little. Stop moving the plants around, your also disturbing them also.

Very good advice. I would suggest a shrimp only tank and yes, stop moving the plants. In addition to disturbing the adult shrimp, any babys could be shaken out into the open and gobbled up by hungry fish. Also, to encourage breeding, get more than 3 shrimp. When in groups, cherrys are like rabbits, LOL. Hope this helps.

not into breeding shrimps they are there to look good and eat algaes.

but only 1 shrimp is hiding at the moment and i had to move the plants or it would have looked terrible.

Well ok but still, shrimp feel more comfortable in groups. And ok but next time keep the plants in one place.
