I had a pregnant female shrimp that I was observing a few days ago. She was scavenging on top of the java moss and suddenly her eggs got stuck on the moss and it was pulled out! So I'm wondering if there are any miracle stories from any member where the eggs were incubated and successfully hatched? If so, how did you do it?

I have heard random reports of people hatching crayfish eggs that detached -- it definately couldn't hurt to try. You say it's been a few days, but as long as there is no trace of fungus there could possibly be a chance. I would put the eggs in a jar of tankwater with an airstone set to bubble low...now, if they were fish eggs I would use an antifungal, however I'd be wary of using chemicals on invertebrates or their eggs...perhaps a few drops of melafix or pimafix might keep fungus away without doing damage. If I saw this happen with one of my shrimp or crayfish I would at least try...kind of reminds me of people delivering babies from pregnant livebearers that died.

Yes with crayfish eggs you can use malacite green. The crayfish eggs were hatched in an egg tumbler!! A jar with an airstone will NOT work. They need new freshwater over them constantly.

interesting -- I don't know what an "egg tumbler" looks like -- do you have a link to some information on making one, or perhaps saving crayfish eggs in general?

ah! thanks, but (god forbid) i'll have to try it next time because i see fungus on the eggs. and I also added some antifungal over the eggs, i guess thats what may have killed them.

I can tell you that putting shrimp eggs in a glass of tank water doesn't work.

I had a female moult while pregnant and leave some eggs in the old exoskeleton. I put them in a jar of water, just in case... but it didn't work. I'm not surprised, but I just thought I'd share so you can rule it out as a method with shrimp eggs.
