Hi all! I am a freshly converted shrimp lover and a newbie here. I recent got an Amano Shrimp (named Tarquin!) at the behest of my boyfriend who spotted some in a shop and thought they were facinating. I wasn't too enthusiastic as I tend not to like things with lots of legs as they remind me of insects (ick). But keen to have something in my tank that would vaguely interest him (he hates fish) I bought one. Well he is the most facinating little creature I have seen in a while!! He is out and about all the time picking algae off my bogwood and every evening he steals the cories algae wafers and won't give them back until he has had his fill.

Anyway reaching the point - I found this site by accident and in the articles it suggested that Tarquin might be happier if he had some friends. My question is (yes finally) would he be happy with friends of different species (eg cherry shrimp) or would he merely tolerate them and really prefer other Amano's? I tried seraching but didn't really come up with anything useful.

While the Cherries would do no harm, Amanos are most comfortable with their own kind.
