I have some fishes (Poecilia) in one of main tanks and they are ill The problem seems to be Fin Rot. I need to add salt in this aquarium, but I'm not sure if my cherries will survive this


Second question - in "Why are my shrimps dying" is written:

Feed your shrimp very, very sparingly. When I say sparingly...I really mean it. Only feed them every few days and only as much as they can gobble up within a few minutes.

So I guess that this is because of Amonia. In my pure shrimp tank I don't give them many food - result is that they stay colorless and small. In other tanks, where I give food for fishesh they are o.k. So the question - can I give to the srimps food each day ?

If it's very little salt, the cherries will survive it provided the salt is added slowly. Red Cherries can live and breed in brackish water after all.

When I say: "fee sparingly" I am referring to people who are overfeeding and have dying shrimp. That's who the article was written for. Of course you can feed every day if you don't overfeed. In the end it's all common sense. It also depends on how many shrimp you have in your tank. If you have 10, then feeding every two days or so (providing there are algae and other microfoods in the aquarium) is fine, but if you have 500 shrimp in there then you might have to feed every day.

The hard part is finding the balance between too much food and too little food. I should probably add this clarification to my article.

My tank is 150l - so I'll start to add half teaspoon few days (3-4) and on next water change I'll use "pure" water.

Concerning overfeed - it is 100l tank with let say 100 shrimps. The tanks is well cycled with a lot of Java Moss. Strange is that I never see small shrimps died, but when I see died shrimp is is always big one. Small shrimps are o.k. but big ones ...
