Adding Seachem Prime

Post by LKH »

OK, my Amano Shrimp are coming this afternoon. After reading up here and some other places, i called my water provider and sure enough, they do add chloramine to the water. So I need to treat for that.

My tank is 3 months old, and thus far healthy and happy. It was established and the first several weekly water changes were performed using Seachem's 7.0 which does neutralize chloramine. But after reading some stuff about messing with PH, I decided to switch to Novaqua a few weeks ago, which does not. So there is SOME chloramine in the tank, probably 3 10-15% water changes worth.

I have Seachem Prime as you suggested. Should I add some to the tank now? Would doing so potentially cause any problems with the existing chemistry?

How would you advise?

Thanks!

I don't see any problems with adding Seachem Prime.

Thanks!

Do you figure I should add enough to treat about 30% of the tank, since most of the water was already treated for Chloramines?
