Re: Strange alien arm.
Well this thing is definitely alive. I watched it for several minutes and it’s moving. Any ideas as to what kind of parasite this beast might be?

Re: Is it ready?
If you are interested in the book go to Mutual Publishing to get it. People are trying to charge over $1000.00 (yes a thousand) when you can get it directly from the publisher for about $14 bucks. As far as chaetomorpha I believe the species is the same as you would find anywhere but Mustafa's is al...

Re: Is it ready?
Removing the java and marimo is a good idea. I waited until I observed green algae signs on my tank walls then I ordered the chaeto and 30 brackish snails from Mustafa. I released everything into the tank and checked water parameters in the tank once a month and when my ammonia, nitrites, and nitra...

Re: Brown Algae on Wall
I have had these brown spots on my tank to. It seem that everyones opas and snails love these spots but mine do not. The snails avoid it and stick to the algae and the shrimp do not touch the stuff either, they stick to the algae or the chaeto. I scraped it off today because it was just starting to ...

Re: Trimming Chaetomorph
I already replied to your email of course, but I'll share it here too for others to benefit from it. The best way to decrease the size of your macroalgae mass is to just pull strings out of it until it's at the desired size. Done. :) Cutting it with scissors will just create a mess with pieces floa...

It's sad what man does to the Earth. I'm guilty of it to though not to extremes like this. Thanks for the article.

Re: First timer in Opae
May I know if it's normal that the Opae to hide in the Lava Rock or just stand still on the lava rock? The small fellows didn't seems to be as active as before, where they usually swimming all over the tank. When you say they are still do you mean completely still or are they scrubbing at the rock ...

Re: Cycle time?
After successfully setting up my own tank, I thought it would be fun to set up a small tank for my girlfriend's son. My tank is a two-gallon tank that was up and running with visible algae growth in only a few weeks. For him, I got a smaller one-gallon tank. It has been cycling now since right afte...
