I changed the topic title and original post contents to as it is now. I thought it would be a good idea to have an 'archive' thread, for links/references or anything really.

I have a publication on Grass Shrimp published in 1985. It states that has been found in water up to 25 PPT. No study had been done on larva at that time.

I'm downloading it right now. 30 pages long too.

Perhaps it might be useful to construct a 'database' of scientific papers on shrimp species?

Wow, that was a fun/informative read!

I'm going to print it out and add it do my 'article database' that I've recently started compiling.

You might say that that article was EXACTLY what I had been looking for. I'm still not too 'good' at searching for things on google scholar, but I'm getting better.

The family Palaemonidae is *huge*. It's not just Palaemonetes species, although the "Palaemon-" part of both names might lead one to believe so. The family includes both freshwater and marine shrimp (mostly marine actually) with dozens of species. Our familiar freshwater Palaemonid shrimp (Palaemon, Macrobrachium etc.) belong to the sub-family Palaemoninae, which also includes saltwater species (such as (such as Urocaridella).

The bottom line is, just use "Palaemonetes" instead of "Palaemonidae" for your above list (for the sake of accuracy) and keep in mind that many Palaemonetes spp. are not freshwater species.

I'm trying really hard to learn as much as I can about taxonomy, but I am still in the 'learning process'.

I actually *just* thought of that and was coming online to fix it when I saw you're post.

I'll switch it to Palaemonetes.
