Does anybody know if the Shrimp eggs will hatch in slightly brackish water? I havent tried breeding them in a year but I always have females carrying eggs. Will the mom live in brackish water?[/quote]
I have some interesting observations about breeding amanos. I have two separate tanks with amanos in them. One is at school and the other is at my home. The group at my home always has eggs. The group at school never has eggs. The water chemistry at my home is a pH 7-7.1 and gh of 15-18. The water ...
I would use Instant ocean. I was successful using instant ocean, I havent tried table salt. Instant ocean has more ingredients than NaCl, which I think is benificial. To be successful it is neccesary to match the environment as close as possible...instant ocean or any other aquarium salt will work ...
Rob, I was just going to ask that same question. Heres my situation so maybe we could narrow it down some. In my 29 gallon tank at home I have two female that are always carring eggs. They will lose the eggs and then in the next couple of day be carrying more eggs. I dont do anything special to them ...

You will be able to tell when the eggs are ready because they will have a black speck in the eggs. Once you see this move the shrimp to a separate tank/Large pickle jar. You ...

I have never breed amano shrimp, but I have some larva floating around a 10 gallon tank. Right now I am tring to figure out if when or if they have metamorphed. I have read that when they metamorph they will crawl on the ground, but I have not seen this yet. The larva are about 7 mm long.
ok sounds good :) Right now ~ 20 are in a 10 gallon tank with some places to hide. How hard do you think it will be to find these small post larva shrimp in a ten gallon tank. Should I start a small tank and put them in there? or leave them be and try to find them when they go post larval
Right now I have about 20 amano shrimp larva that are 15 days old. I have read that these shrimp could metamorph into post larva shrimp at day 30 -60. How will I be able to recognize a metamorphed amano shrimp? Also when they metamorph should I put them in fresh water? Right now they are in salt ...
