Macro species combinations...
Could anyone offer me any advice on this -- I was wondering if it's possible to keep M. Assamensis together with M. Lanchesteri. I currently keep two Lanchesteri together with a group of 6 amanos and 6 rasboras. None of these seem to bother each other. Incidentally, there was one thread on this subj...

Thought I'd dig out this old post -- I got to watch one of my amanos filter feeding the other day. He was clinging to the silicone tank sealant near the filter outlet, performing exactly the same pose as a fan shrimp. They do indeed have tiny fans they can catch food with. My tank's been overrun wit...

What country are you in? Fairy shrimp grow about as fast as Triops, they just dont grow quite as large. Fairy shrimp I have raised have always lived about a month longer than Triops. I would say on average they reach adult size in 3 weeks. But then there are many factors that affect their growth ra...

I have a very effective method of keeping my algae eaters well fed. :) Try and buy a marimo/moss ball (cladophora aegagropila). It's not actually a moss, but a kind of algae. I have several small ones in my tank, and as a result, my amanos are never hungry. They also seem to like eating the white fu...

Hmmm... I guess I'll have to wait a while and see what he grows into. Thanks. :) Though that's not the one I believe to be a Lanchesteri. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think these pictures definitely show a different species. It looks remarkably like a Lanchesteri, judging by other photos identifie...

To be honest, I'm not sure. I'm having difficulty finding any adult shrimp who look like him, so there's always the possibility he's still a juvenile. He's moulted once in the three weeks I've had him. Still no markings though. The bump is just because I added the picture as an edit (first good pict...

Macrobrachium Lanchesteri
Can anyone tell me more about Macrobrachium Lanchesteri? Specifically, about keeping them in an aquarium? There are a number of references to the species around this site (and believe me when I say, I have searched), as well as a few pictures and at least one link to a rather interesting article on ...
