Re: Questions about feed
I have most of the same shrimp food you have. I only feed the baby shrimp food if I actually have litte ones in the tank but some say that Bebi is supposed to be good for egg development as well. I feed my shrimp Hikari crab cuisine, shrimp pellets, tetra min crisps, flake food, algae wafers, Shirak...

Re: Where Did He Go?
Just wondering, did you ever find him? Mine can hide pretty good if they want to but rarely do because they rule the tank. Only tank mates are otos, L134s and galaxy rasboras, neither of which could hurt them. I had mine for almost 8 years.

Malawa Shrimp and Blue Bee Shrimp Crossbreeding?
I have some breeding Malawa shrimp and some breeding blue bee shrimp. So far I have kept them in separate tanks. But I am wondering if it is possible to crossbreed them. I have read that there is no shrimp currently in the hobby that can cross with the Malawa. While I have kept several different spe...

Re: Amano Shrimp Look Alike ?
One mystery solved. I did another water change today and again I vacuumed up a tiny clear colored shrimp. I put him in a glass jar to see what he is and after about one hour he colored up and it's without a doubt a CRS shrimplet. Must have just hatched. Smallest I have seen so far but I must have sc...

Weitzmani Fry in Shrimp tank?
I am trying to spawn my Weitzmani corydoras in a 10 gal. If I succeed would it be safe to add some of the fry to my shrimp tank to eat the paramecium that has grown to quite a number in the shrimp tank? Or would cory fry also harm shrimp? I have orange shrimp, CRS and RCS in the tank along with a sm...

Re: Tiny thread like worms & swimming specks
I have both of those too. Glad to hear the specks are paramecium. Now I just need some fry to eat them. I am currently trying to spawn Weitzmani corys in a different tank so this will come in very handy if I should succeed. The worms are planaria. Nothing to worry about. They are usually the result ...

Re: Amano Shrimp Look Alike ?
I will post a picture as soon as my husand comes back from Florida. He is gone until Friday and while I can take pictures they don't usually turn out well but the bigger problem is I don't know how to download them. We actually have 3 digital cameras in the house. But my wisdom is limited when it co...

Re: Amano Shrimp Look Alike ?
I agree with keeping species only tanks, however, orange shrimp and CRS cannot cross breed. From all acounts that I read orange shrimp have tiny eggs and may have to go through a salt or a least brackish phase. Even so the woman I bought mine from swears she breeds them and does so in strictly fresh...

Re: Amano Shrimp Breeding Project
Since I am already on this forum today, I figured I might as well update you on my Amano breeding project. After 3 weeks, only 4 of the larvae were still alive. 3 had morphed into shrimp, one had not. I started to replace some of the saltwater with freshwater. 1/4 the first day, 1/4 the second day a...

Amano Shrimp Look Alike ?
This will be a long post but please read it, as I really need an answer. Last fall I bought 6 orange shrimp on line and later 2 more at my local fish store. 2 of the orange shrimp that I got online were clear in color when I got them. One since colored up some. He is still lighter colored but obviou...

Re: CRS shrimplets dying
I use the A/C and that is generally enough for my other tanks. It's just this 6 gal that get's so hot. The light is built-in and get's so hot that it adds too much heat to the tank. Last year I left the light off but then my plants did not look so good anymore. I have since not used the tank for fis...

Re: Amano Shrimp Breeding Project
I only allowed 50 larvae to hatch in this tank and removed the female before the rest of the 1000-2000 did. And they are so small you can barely see them without a magnifying glass. When they transform into shrimp, they have to be moved to freshwater again in stages as not all of them will transform...

Re: Amano Shrimp Breeding Project
When I add food to the tank they all drift over to the food source, but they are too small for me to actually see them eat. But they are all in the upside down position and I read one report stating that that's good. If they would float horizontally they would die within a week. I don't know if that...

Re: CRS shrimplets dying
These tiny things in the shrimp tank are not daphnia. I grow daphnia in 3 separate containers and they look different. These critters in the shrimp tank look like tiny oval shaped bugs that "fly" through the water pretty quickly. I thought those were water fleas but if water fleas is just ...
