Thanks everyone. I'm down to vacuuming half the tank each week on both tanks. It may not seem like much, but it really does make a difference. I'm looking into getting a couple more live plants as well. I've heard lots of good stuff about the python, but with tanks my size, it could suck up too much...

Thanks guys, that's great news and immensely helpful info, I was starting to get an overwhelmed feeling about my tanks. They were starting to be more work then enjoyment, coupled with the worry of hurting a shrimp. I've done some research on picking out some low-light hardy plants that my shrimp wil...

Thank you for the info. My shrimp tanks are: 10gal with 2 female cherry shrimp (trying to get more for breeding and stocking LFS around here, but no such luck) and 3 guppy fry and 1 male guppy. 20gal. with 6 white clouds, 5 amano, and 1 bamboo shrimp. The main attraction in my tanks are the shrimp, ...

How do you clean your shrimp tanks?
Hi everybody, I'm wondering what methods of cleaning gravel everyone uses. I've had a couple *really* close calls, particularly with my cherry shrimp, with moving rocks and fake plants and then going through the frustration of putting everything back safely while they are zipping around like crazy. ...

Putting the puzzle pieces together. I now believe I know what it was that killed my Wood Shrimp. I bought some Kent Marine Micro-Invert food. I was misled in being told that this is good for them. I believe that it clogs the gills on the shrimp. I accidentally killed him with kindness after attempti...

Wood Shrimp Question
Hello all, once again. The question this time is on a sad note :( One of my wood shrimps died. I had a bad feeling from the start with this one. It always had a yellowish tinge to it's coloring and never seemed very healthy. But this leaves only one now, and because I never felt completely comfortab...

Yes, one is doing that right now. They never both do that at the same time, unfortunately, so I get confused if they are just doing that to mix up their routine of sitting all day filtering the water, or if they are really hungry :( If I see one scavenging the bottom I squirt in some Kent Micro-vert...

Aquarium Salt?
I have a 20 gal. with 2 wood shrimp and 2 amano shrimp and a few white clouds and a 10 gal. with 3 cherry shrimp and a few wild guppies. A couple months ago at the LFS, I was told that adding aquarium salt makes life less stressful for the fish and shrimp. So I added in just a tiny bit: 2 tablespoon...

A bit worried...
I was fortunate to find 3 cherry shrimp at the LFS yesterday to add to my shrimpless 10gal, but I'm wondering if they spend all day hiding, tucked under rocks and come out to feed at night? ...or if my (too)curious guppies are picking on them. Any info greatly appreciated because if this is indeed, ...
