Brackish Flora
Mustafa forgive me, but I simply cannot plagiarize so I am including a link to information for others who, like myself, want to provide the most spectacular life for their Opae Ula. I have been researching and found places with plants growing in brackish waters here in the U.S. mainland. Testing the...

Re: Painted Gravel Safe????
If you can find crushed coral, check the home decor center at your Wal-mart, then I would highly suggest boiling it for 5 minutes by adding it to the cold water and letting it heat normally as you stir it occasionally. Let it cool and dry on paper towels for a full day. Coral seems to be the best su...

Re: Plants
As I don't foresee the plants as being a danger to the shrimp. They are so small, they really only eat algae that grows in their tanks.

Re: Plants
It really depends on the size of your tank. You should do some homework to find out about brackish plants and their growth rate/height BEFORE deciding what to get. Some things to get you started: Samolus valerandi ihas a very high tolerance of brackish water, up to 30 ppt, around SG 1.020, but it is...

Re: Tank Progress
It looks good. On reviewing your tank in the photos, I think you may be ready, but it is up to you. You know better than I do how many shrimp you will be getting. Your tank definitely looks nice.

I totally understand what you are saying.
I suffer depression, so I have to focus and stay on track. It has really made things a lot better and easier for me.

Re: Brackish moss balls
After a little research I wanted to ask what is the specific salinity of your tanks. Is it possible you have a brackish tolerant Cladophora aegagropila? It may just be entirely possible. If so, I would love to hear more about this. I would like to have a broken sample to test in one of my own tank, ...

Re: My tank.
In the wild, M. lohena is found in the same pools as the Supershrimp. There is no need to make any changes, but I ask that you try to rescue it from someone local who accidentally ended up with one instead of go for a seller who targets them from the pools in the natuaral Hawaiian environment.

Re: Questions about tank mates and maitenence
I can tell you the Hermit Crabs are semi aggressive, especially towards snails that have the shell they want, and unless you are running a filtered tank, which I would not suggest for Supershrimp (Halocaridina rubra), then it is also a no on the hermit crabs. There seems to be a big want to mix anim...

Don't you need a few "Testers" to help make sure they are going to work in personal tanks with different parameters than your own?
