You have ostracods. They don't do any harm to fish or shrimp, but their population growth is a direct result of the food source (that is, how much food there is for them to feed on).

Use h2o2 straight out of the bottle. You don't need to dilute it. Use a syringe or a dropper.

What I have also done is use a turkey baster to loosen the hydra from its perch (push against it directly, if against the glass), and then suck them out.

as far as i know, planaria and shrimp can coexist together. i don't know if planaria are the cause of your shrimp deaths, but you may want to consider you water parameters first. any hint of ammonia may cause your shrimp to die. next you should consider any sources of stress. this includes water cha...

The water change can be a factor as well, if you didn't change the water slowly. If water in the tank is considerably different from water out of the tap, it can cause additional stress on the shrimp and their eggs.

brown eggs on tiger shrimp are the right color when fertilized. there may be other factors, such as stress or water quality, that may have affected the eggs.

baby shrimp that, at birth, are miniature versions of the adults (e.g., cherries and tigers) are unmistakeable for anything else. even in their small size, you should be able to see their pleopods (or swimmerettes, as some call it) moving about and refracting light as they move from one spot to anot...

Re: Red Cherries Successfully Breed :-D

Today I noticed a few little white specks jittering and zooming in the water, they look like little white fleas! I guess those are the red cherry babies!!! Too small to take pics, the camera is broken anyway :) Josh if they look like fleas, they could be ostracods, round little bugs buzz around. th...

30 RCS in a 6G tank is overcrowded. They need more space than that, even tho they, in general, are low bioload animals. I don't think the cuttlebone or moss are a factor in their deaths. More than likely, it's the shipping stress. Even though they may look healthy on arrival, they may still have som...

Yes, once in a while there are blue Tiger Shrimp in batches of normal Tiger Shrimp. The question is if they are naturally blue or just happened to be eating some of the food coloring that some of the so called "blue shrimp" that you see imported sometimes were eating. Those "blue shr...
