Yes, the shrimp seem to enjoy hiding places, possibly for breeding, but also possibly for simply getting out of the overhead aquarium light when they so desire. Here are some updated photos of the tank that was being discussed earlier. It shared nothing with my previous tank (which had the plant growing in it) other than a little water as a result of netting and transferring the animals...

Are you able to provide an up-close photo of one (or more) of the shrimp with algae seeming to grow on it? May just be inadvertently getting stuck on them as they cruise around doing their thing.
