i wouldnt clean anything in tap water, just stick to putting some RO water in a bucket and washing what you need in that. Shrimps do just seem to die for no apparent reason, if you loose one in its own I wouldn't worry. Just test ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and SG. If all is ok then you just have to chalk it down to an issue with that particular shrimp I'm afraid.

I too am trying to get people in the UK to keep these shrimps, Nobody i have spoken to about shrimp have heard of these little red guys let alone people who are not interested in Aquariums.
