Yes, that's why I mentioned the saddle color of the "colorless" red cherries is beige - I think this is a tipoff that they may be of mixed lineage. I'm going to put them into the community tank.

As to the blues, no, they have not had offspring yet ...

the picture on the German site (you've reference elsewhere) has a picture that is just what mine looks like...... with the exception of the light eyes. Mine have dark/black eyes. Since the one in the pict does not have those "golden" glowing eyes, could the lightness be a photographic ...

Hmmm, mine are a lighter "true blue" than the one pictured there. Plus, that one seems to have gold eyes, mine have black eyes.

Also, if anything, they get more blue with each molt, much like the cherries get more coloration with age.

The most commonly found "glass" or "ghost" shrimp are very short lived (a few months). And yes, they're sold as "feeder" shrimp. With a short lifespan, they'll reach reproductive maturity quickly, and have a faster turnaround time for breeders. Lots of offspring, quickly mature, make lots more ...

These "blues" are very blue - not the mottled grey/brown "I think I see blue" of the wild type of the red cherry shrimp. Now I'm thinking I should keep them separate rather than risk losing the intense blue color.

actually, I think a *little* bit is beneficial. The place I got my original RCS from suggests it on their website. 1/2 tsp for 25 gallons, once per month. I have the Kent's, and I err on the low side, usually only adding more with water changes.
