Do you know the ingredients of these wafers? Cause I guess there is some spirulina in it... Shrimp, catfish and crays love that ( even some other fish, like livebearers)! And it is also very good for there immune systems. I've bought some special spirulina flakes for that purpose and they all love t...

Thanks for the info! Interesting that formaline could be used (German site's and forums advise not to, don't know why though) I've also found a totally shrimp and crayfish safe medicine (can not treat al theses animals in separate tanks). The fungus looks likes it is getting smaller... After a water...

Strange to hear that crayfish and shrimps are not a good combination, cause I know a lot of people who keep these animals succesfully together in their tanks... Here, we have more problems with the spontanious dying of the cpo (patzies) even when they are in a special breeding tanks (maybe inbreedin...

Ah! You're right ;) The food is very important in the molting process... that's why I get special food for crayfish and shrimps here in the Netherlands ;) My water parameters are also not that soft, but medium... and all crays and shrimps are doing quite well (except of the fungus I described in an ...

The problems you seem to have with molts is prob. a product of a few different things. Crayfish like HARD water. The harder the better. I don't agree on the hardness... I've got two pairs of cambarellus montezumae montezumae's and I did some research for the water parameters... They like medium har...

I actually prefer the spongefilters, because no young shrimp can get caught in the filter housing and they graze of the sponges (especially for youngsters, there's a lot of good nutricients in the sponge). Also, the spongefilters are air-driven, that meens that there is al lot more oxigen resolved i...

My experience with crystal reds and red cherries are quite different from other dutch petshrimp keepers/breeders... My cr are breeding quite well (although there are some periods when there are no eggs at all), but the red cherries were not breeding untill last week. I've had them for more than 5 mo...

Crayfish with fungus?
I've noticed something weird in my shrimp and mexican crayfish tank... Ik looks like fungus (also under the microscope, although it's not the best piece of equipment - read: childrens toy  ) Some pictures i've been taken: Female cambarellus montezumae montezumae who had just released her larves...

Three lady's bought these shrimp so breeding is on its way ;) I wil try to get some more information about the heritage if possible. The colours are quite different in different lighting conditions, I noticed. Under a bright white/yellow lamp, the shrimp are more light brownish. And under a more blu...

I'll try to capture these guys on the cam ;) If it's not the Indian Whiteband, what kind of shrimp could it be? The marks on the back are similar to the indians and the colors are now the same as in the picture in the description of the Indian Whiteband. But in the store they were almost black :wink...

breeding indian whiteband?
Hello there, I'm new here. Please don't mind the bad typing and/or grammar cause I'm Dutch... Reading skills are quite good, but writing... Yesterday I bought some new species of shrimp. Now I identified them as the Indian Whiteband Shrimp. Two of the twenty little lads (or lady's actually :l...
