Do you know the ingredients of these wafers? Cause I guess there is some spirulina in it... Shrimp, catfish and crays love that ( even some other fish, like livebearers)! I actually prefer the spongefilters, because no young shrimp can get caught in the filter housing and they graze of the sponges (especially for youngsters, there's a lot of good nutricients in the sponge).
Also, the spongefilters are air-driven, that meens that there is al lot more oxigen resolved ...

My experience with crystal reds and red cherries are quite different from other dutch petshrimp keepers/breeders... I've noticed something weird in my shrimp and mexican crayfish tank...
