Update 30/July
I have a berried shrimp!! I’m super excited. Another female has eggs visible inside. My pictures are pretty blurry, but I’ll hopefully capture better ones soon!

BERRIED SHRIMP !!!!
I am SO excited! I looked at my tank a few minutes ago and I noticed that one of my ladies is carrying a plethora of eggs! how many is typical? She seems to be rotating them, her legs are very busy... Is this normal? Sorry the picture is so blurry, I'll try to get a better one soon

Tiniest habitat?
Hi! It’s been a while since I’ve logged on here... I am seeking advice regarding tiny homes for my tiny shrimp. I would like to gift a little habitat to my brother for his 21st birthday. His desk is small and I found the littlest jar at Joann’s that would be perfect. It is 3.15in by 3.35in, so about...

Re: Flipper's Shrimp Journal
Alrighty!! It's been about a month. I have not fed the shrimp and they are very happy. They enjoy dancing around the tank and grazing. The macroalgae has not grown, but my shrimp like it anyways.
They spend much of their day on the lava rock and walking upside down, using the water as traction.

Re: Importance of Lava Rock
I used the Carib Sea South Sea Base Rock because it came perfect sizes with lots of holes. I'm using lava on my next one just because of the color scheme I am using but I have been extremely pleased with the Base Rock. My shrimpies are loving the many holes in their rock. They enjoy playing "h...

Re: Importance of Lava Rock
Hi, I am a complete newbie at this, but from what I can tell, besides being part of their natural environment, lava rocks are extremely beneficial because they have a very large surface area, which allows for more bacteria/algae growth. Plus, in my opinion, they look super cool! I Just realized you...

Re: Q about Food
I just started introducing food for my shrimps after a year and 5 months. Started with 75 shrimps and I think I'm somewhere around 300 shrimps now. I have been giving them a very small piece of cooked chicken egg yoke and they seem to like it a lot. Picture below was first experiment where I introd...

Re: Importance of Lava Rock
The way how I look at it is, lava rock is what they know. It is home to them. I use black lava rock in my tank, they stand out well against it, and the anchialine pools they originally came from are lined with the stuff. Which makes sense considering how the Hawaiian Islands were formed. And it loo...

Re: Some up close and personal pics!
Thanks! Unfortunately one of the berried shrimps lost a majority of her eggs. She’s down to 5 eggs left. I actually just saw her loose 2 more with my own eyes. =( The other one still looks to be intact. On a side note I was able to take a picture of the egg with my jewelry magnifying glass. Holy cr...

Re: Signs of spring
I am not sure they follow cycles, being right near the equator seasons are pretty much the same. I have had berried shrimp in December. Pictures will come as soon as I find the little cable to hook the camera to the computer. It's around here somewhere... Things have changed a little since my last ...

Re: Lots of questions
Hi everyone!! SO, I introduced Mustafa's snails on Thursday and everything seems to be going fine. I can usually see like 3 snails at a time hanging out, they burrow and stick to my walls. ALSO, there is a snail that is inside Mustafa's macroalgea. Like, the little guy has been there for some days....
