Jellyfish like creatures in my shrimptank!?
This is super weird. I just did a water top off in my opae tank and after the top off, I noticed these little bell-shaped thingies moving around in my shrimp tank. I want to make it clear that they are clearly not a seed shrimp/gammarus/amphipod/ostracod of any sort. I have previously had these othe...

Re: Can they be acclimated to fresh water?
I actually decided to look deeper into this topic. My school gives us access to many research papers. There have been many instances in studies where adult opae ula have been introduced and have shown to "tolerate" freshwater environments. There are some papers that state that adults are &...

Re: Can they be acclimated to fresh water?
In my initial research before obtaining some opae, I came across a comment somewhere in a forum where they wanted their opae to stop breeding, so they gradually did water changes to turn their brackish opae tank to a freshwater tank. They were successful with turning their tank into a freshwater ta...

Re: Can they be acclimated to fresh water?
I believe there is someone in this forum or another who wanted their opae to stop breeding, so they gradually did water changes to turn their brackish opae tank to a freshwater tank. They were successful with turning their tank into a freshwater tank and with getting the opae to stop breeding, but I...

Re: Dead shrimp?
Leave 'em for the next 12 hours and see if they've moved at all. If they happen to move within those 12 hours, I'd say to keep checking in 'em every once in awhile. If not, I'd say remove their body. Also, regarding your question about the shrimp color and death: my first batch of 20 shrimp, which h...

Do flippers grow back?
Hi all! I was wondering if Opae Ula had the ability to regenerate their flippers. I recently received my Opae Ula and I've had them in a temporary holding tank, and I soon realized that one of them was missing its left uropods (or flippers). I tried getting a good picture, but they sure do swim fast...
