Place a slice or two of cucumber in the tank overnight. In the morning it should be covered with snails. Just remove the slices and repeat as needed.

Mine are in a planted tank with Cardinal Tetras, with the occasional baby surviving to adulthood so its easy to keep track of them.

cherry shrimp lifespan

What is the longest anyone has keeped cherry shrimp (or similar species ) alive in captivity? So far I'm 2 years and counting.

If your trying to get rid of snails, try putting a peice of cucumber in your tank before going to bed. The next morning it should be covered with snails. Just remove and repeat if necessary.

Thank you for your reply. What amazed me was that the fish was on its side letting the shrimp do its thing. From my experience fish don't normally lay on their side unless dead or dying. Maybe I'm looking too much into this set of circumstances.

Symbiosis?

Last night I noticed a juvenile Albino Cory lying on it's side atop a bed of Java Fern. Looking closer there was a Cherry shrimp on top of the fish picking at it. I went to remove what I thought was a dead fish from the tank but when the net got near it, the cory righted itself and bolted back to it...
