I'm going to have to dissent and say that they look like siamese algae eater eggs. While I haven't bred these, I have bred some danios and tetras, and that's what the eggs looked like. I guess time will tell.

Fellow Cryptomundo reader, TKD? Heh, heh. I've searched the tank a bunch of times and still can't find any others. Actually, I haven't actually seen the original baby, either! Do they hide a lot as youngsters when there are adults around? I know when I got the original 8 from Mustafa, all about the ...

Well, I had all but given up hope on any babies, since I looked and looked and looked, all without success for babies, and just assumed none had hatched. My lone female hasn't carried eggs again for whatever reason. Yesterday, though, I was doing a water change, and while dumping more water in, I sa...

My substrate pretty much looks just like that (sand), so i guess I'll set up a chair in front of the tank tomorrow and search.

How big are redclaw babies?

The female that was carrying eggs seems to not be carrying them anymore, and I was just wondering how big the babies are. I'm not sure if the eggs were fertile or not. The tank is 125 gallons with plenty of rocks and wood, so there are places to hide. I can't see any babies. Do they hide? Are they a...

I've got 8 red claws in a 125 gallon tank with about 15 glowlight danios and everything seems fine. I've never seen any interaction between the fish and shrimp at all, actually, even when the shrimp were little. There is a pregnant female right now, so I guess I'll see how everything goes with baby ...

I can't imagine it would hurt, seeing as how they are detritivores, which includes dead animal matter. Actually, I'm sure it's pretty good for them.

My son and I have leering in the tank excessively the past two days, and there is definitely a female with eggs! :-D I can also tell who the dominant male is, as he is easily distinguishable from the rest. As for the others, I have no idea what sex they are. It seems despite the larger tank, I might...

Red Claw Eggs?

I bought 8 (I think it was eight) baby red claws from Mustafa in July. They were about 1/2 inch big, and are now about 1 and 1/2 inches. I'm not sure if they all survived, since I've never seen eight all at once, but I'm sure at least 6 did. Some are bigger than others, but the smaller ones have red...

I didn't take out too many plants (at least hopefully), I only had two stalks of of hornwort and some duckweed on top in addition to the wad of java moss. I took out the hornwort and about half the duckweed, and left the java moss in, which was by far the most plentiful of all the vegetation.

I've also tried maple leaves I collected in my backyard. They were brown and had settled in our kids pool, which I had put in the shade to collect mosquito larvae for my fish. I put the leaves in my cherry shrimp tank, and the shrimp haven't left the leaves since! The MTS seem to like it also, so al...

Planaria, darn it

I just noticed some planaria in my 10 gallon cherry tank. I'm thinking it came over in a rock I took out of my red claw macro tank to put in the cherry tank because of the algae on it. I'm now doing more water changes and feeding less (I read about this doing a search on here). A couple questions, t...

I've seen the pictures on Petfish, it doesn't look sick white/blue, it looks like it's just blue. It's weird.

I feel better about the worm question now, anyway. I'm just paranoid, I've kept aquariums for 15+ years, and been pretty successful, but heck if I know that much about shrimp except from what I've read here! They've all colored up a lot since yesterday, and seem to have settled down, crawling around...

The auction was for 10 shrimp with 1 pregnant female. I got about 12/13 shrimp, mostly juveniles (so I can't tell with my untrained eye the sex), but I can tell from the 3 or 4 older ones that at least 2 are females with eggs. I'm just paranoid about the white saddle from the other post about the wo...
