Mustafa,

Were you able to find a Rusty male? I've got a friend in Spain who might be able to ship some over, but I don't know how well they'd handle the trip.

Where I grew up in Sothern California, we would go to the streams in the hills behind our house and catch what we called Red Devils and Brownies. I know, very scientific names, but hey, my friends and I were 10. The red crayfish were extremely aggresive, but they would live in pools and streams with...

Beautiful shrimp, Tuscan! About 8 months ago I got 10 "Amano's" to do cleanup duty and a few weeks after I got them I noticed two females had changed color. One went dark, and I mean dark, blue. Another went pink/red. I don't know if they were one of the 'rainbow' species, but I thought th...

It's not nearly as difficult to read another language as it is to speak (coherently that is). I'm interested in the information that's in the book. I can already read/speak English ;) and Spanish. I can kludge my way through reading Portuguese, Italian, French, and Swedish (to an extent). It'll take...

It's snowed in my baby red claw tank

I was doing some tank maintenance to my nursery tank, rotating sponges, water testing & such, getting ready to do a partial water change, when I noticed what looked like snow in the tank. It turned out to be hundreds of tiny bits of shrimp carapaces. It's amazing that these tiny creatures could ...

badflash Lol, I also used to use undergravel filtration. :D Black Beard, If you haven't already, read these great articles about keeping shrimp http://www.petshrimp.com/articles.html . FYI, natural sea sponges, cut into a 2" to 3" inch chunk will help with hiding places, and provide an exc...

Shrimp are opportunistic hunters. If a weak/sick/vulnerable meal presents itself they will hunt it down, if they can. Have plenty of nooks for shrimp to hide in after molting. Overpopulation is another cause for such aggresive behaviour.

Just because the 'female' appears darker does not mean it is male. It could mean that it was stressed in the pet store, and now feels more at ease. My male and female red claw macros compete for food. I make sure that it dosen't all get bunched up in one spot. I also have noticed that some foods are...

Red Claw Macro, Alpha male issue

Hello everyone! This is my first post here, though I've been reading this forum for some time now. As the subject states, I've a breeding tank of Red Claw macro shrimp, one adult male, two females. The shrimp have hatched two sets of babies now, and all has been well. Last night I noticed some diffe...
