Ive been reading this all day the forum, simple question

I know the rules, you will get hazed on if you ask a question that has already been asked, but I must know this simple question before I go out there and buy all this and order from this web site. Is the cherry shrimp freshwater, or saltwater. I have to asume they are freshwater, but that would just be to good to be true, if chery are freshwater its a definite BUY.
Please respond quick, so I can get this up and running it sounds like a great hobby that I would be really intrested in, I just need to keep the cat away RIGHT lol.

Have a look around the site and read the shrimp varieties page:

http://www.petshrimp.com/shrimpspecies.html

As quoted from there regarding dwarf shrimp: "Except for the Hawaiian Red Shrimp all the other shrimp are pure freshwater shrimp."

Good luck with your shrimp....make sure your tank has been up and running for a good 6 weeks plus and is fully cycled.

Judging by your posts I am going to assume you are very new at the aquarium hobby. I know you say you've been reading the site, but you need to do more reading. Make sure you read all the articles in the "Articles" and also the "Varieties" sections located to the left of the screen. Next you need to do a search with Google or whatever search engine you like and use the term "aquarium cycling". You should find lots of information on how to properly set up a tank. Rushing in to this hobby will normally result in dead animals, wasted money, and frustration. So please take the time to do the proper research. All of us and anyone else who enjoys this and similiar hobbies have all done the same at one time.

Don't worry about a little hazing and welcome to the forum.

Understanding the articles is key to success. It is easy to miss a word or two in the write ups and Mustafa is also known to update them, so a second or 3rd read often turns up more info that you didn't see before or just didn't have the experience to understand.

Some shrimp like the Amano's and Bamboos, and some prawns need salty water for the fry, the adults all live in fresh water.

This isn't like raising tropical fish though. For most of us they require daily checks to keep them healthy.
